APPG AGM followed by discussion on whether government is set up to deliver major projects

Today, the APPG for Project Delivery held its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

We are pleased to share that Henry Tufnell MP has been re-elected as Chair, with Lord Lilley, Llinos Medi MP and Baron Howell of Guildford elected as Vice Chairs.

At the AGM, members discussed the upcoming activity for the year ahead, with opportunities to build on the findings of the APPG’s recent inquiry Building a Better Future: Inquiry into improving the delivery of national infrastructure projects with a series of deep dives into topics covered.

Following the AGM, the APPG discussed whether the machinery of government is equipped to deliver infrastructure projects for constituents.

We were pleased to welcome Dr Andrew Schuster and Steve Bainbridge, Senior Associate Director at Jacobs, who shared insights from their experience across the civil service, private sector and government on how major projects are shaped, delivered and improved.

The discussion explored how strengthening project delivery capability across the civil service can help avoid delays and support the timely delivery of schools, hospitals, transport links and other vital infrastructure across the UK.

Thanks to our speakers and attendees for contributing to an engaging discussion on improving project delivery across the UK.
